This role includes a significant equity component. We are an early-stage startup, so we favor equity over cash in our current compensation philosophy. You should too, or an early-stage startup might not be for you. That said, we expect cash compensation to progress quickly as the company matures.

About the Role:
In this role, you will maintain end-to-end deal ownership of sourcing, developing, and scaling customer relationships with leading industrial firms. You will build and maintain a customer pipeline across target industrial verticals and communicate how our technology helps them meet their engineering and business goals. You will work closely with business development and customer engineering teams to strategize on enterprise deals, ensuring we maintain strong relationships with our top accounts. As our first sales hire, you will be counted on to shape the early sales team and its culture.

Responsibilities:
Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, opportunity qualification, negotiation, and closing, consistently moving deals through the pipeline. Provide regular updates on progress and forecast accuracy.
Rapidly build pipeline finding warm leads via an existing network, cold outbound, or creative lead-gen campaigns.
Conduct detailed discovery with multiple personas (engineering leaders, procurement teams, and executives) to understand their pain points and business goals.
Identify and track patterns in customer needs, usage, and value delivery - helping to refine our vertical strategy and product offering - work with leadership team to refine product messaging and inform roadmap.
Develop, maintain, and evolve business development materials: pitch decks, product demos, case studies, testimonials, and publications.
As accounts scale, help build the business development function by hiring a team of sales people
About You:
What we’re looking for:
Experience in business development, strategic account management, or customer-facing sales roles at an engineering tools, AI, or engineering services company, selling to similar types of customers as we target at P-1 AI.
Experience selling technology products to major OEM in the data centers and industrial systems with a strong network of contacts in those sectors.
Proven ability to build a pipeline from scratch, including identifying key target accounts and personas within key verticals and target companies.
Excellent communicator, able to bridge technical, commercial, and strategic conversations.
Voracious traveller, excited to criss-cross the country (and world) to cement relationships with in-person interactions with key stakeholders.

Background in engineering or technical disciplines in the physical industries and/or in AI is a significant plus, particularly when combined with customer-facing or commercial experience.
