Head of Business Development
P-1 Ai
About P-1 AI:
We are building an engineering AGI. We founded P-1 AI with the conviction that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will be on the built world—helping mankind conquer nature and bend it to our will. Our first product is Archie, an AI engineer capable of quantitative and spatial reasoning over physical product domains that performs at the level of an entry-level design engineer. We aim to put an Archie on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.
Our founding team includes the top minds in model-based engineering, deep learning, and industries that are our customers. We just closed a $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures that includes a number of other AI and industrial luminaries. We invite you to join our team of the world’s best engineers and AI researchers, building AI’s most impactful use case.
About the Role:
This is a leadership role that bridges between our engineering teams and our prospective customers and design partners. During the pre-revenue phases of our company, this individual will be the primary customer-facing member of the company’s leadership team. As the company gets closer to revenue, that responsibility will be shared with the sales function and the emphasis will shift towards developing shipping discipline. This role could ultimately grow into a Chief Product Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, or Chief Revenue Officer.
About You:
What we’re looking for:
Customer-side experience at a major OEM in the building systems/HVAC, industrial systems, automotive, aerospace, or another high-priority product domain.
Customer-facing role where you served as the primary interface for customer acquisition and relationship-building.
Product shipping experience at a B2B SaaS and ideally at an AI company.
Start-up experience and e/acc mindset — thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment; self-directed and self-motivated; exceptional written and verbal communicator; AI techno-optimist.
Clarity of thought — structured, data-driven, and logical thinker and communicator.
What will make you stand out:
Technical/engineering background.
Strong leadership skills and excellent judge and attractor of talent.
Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be an individual contributor, not just a manager.
Ideally located in the SF/Bay Area.
Willingness to spend a considerable amount of time visiting customers / design partners.
Responsibilities:
Work with the CEO and leadership team to pressure-test and refine the company’s business model.
Lead the development of the go-to-market strategy including approaches to: inbound vs. outbound, top-down vs. bottom-up, open-source vs. closed-source, whale vs. land-and-expand, etc.
Lead the prioritization of product domains / market verticals based on market sizing, PMF, and other considerations.
Develop and maintain relationships with prospective customers / design partners through the pre-revenue phases of the company.
Act as the interface between prospective customers / design partners and the company’s engineering team to define and prioritize product features, build the user journey and user experience, oversee compliance topics (customer data protection, intellectual property, regulatory, etc.), and manage socio-technical considerations.
Create and maintain product KPIs.
Serve as the “voice of the customer” on the company’s leadership team.
