About the Role
We're on the lookout for a talented HCI Research Scientist who can bring to the table expertise in video understanding and agent-based systems. You’ll need to bridge the gap between our proprietary video understanding foundation models and what users are really after by breaking down vague customer pain points into research problems we can tackle head-on. Your expertise in HCI for video systems will help us roll out our cutting-edge technology that even the most tech-challenged folks can use. If you can pull this off, you’ll make our advanced video technology completely user-friendly for customers sitting on mountains of video data.
In this role, you will
Conduct user research to uncover and articulate the needs of customers with large video datasets
Design and evaluate interfaces for video search, analysis, and multimodal content exploration
Formulate research problems based on user needs and technical capabilities
Develop prototypes to validate design hypotheses and gather user feedback
Collaborate cross-functionally with GTM, Product, and Engineering teams to translate capabilities into research opportunities.
You may be a good fit if you have:
PhD in HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience
Research experience in designing interfaces for video analysis tools or AI-assisted workflows
Published research in top-tier HCI conferences (e.g., CHI, UIST, CSCW)
Experience conducting rigorous user studies and translating findings into actionable insights
Strong prototyping skills using appropriate tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, particularly in video understanding, multimodal systems, or related fields
Experience working with technical teams to implement research findings
Excellent communication skills for explaining complex user needs to technical stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple research streams
Passion for making advanced technology accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise
