What if you could personally impact the future of healthcare? As part of the PocketHealth team, you will enable hospitals and clinics across North America — and more importantly, empower over a million patients — to discover a better healthcare experience.
PocketHealth is a patient-centric platform that enables hospitals and clinics across North America to share imaging records digitally with patients, instantly and securely. Through our platform, we enable patients to be active and engaged participants in their own care, and take control of their care journey. In addition to image sharing, which is the heart of the PocketHealth platform, we’ve grown our core functionality to enable sharing between hospitals and physicians, as well as instant image retrieval and automated importing capability. PocketHealth is a unified image management solution for over 600 hospitals and clinics across North America. We believe that by placing patients at the center of the record release process, data moves more ethically, easily and securely throughout the care journey, and we’re looking for passionate individuals to help make this vision a reality for millions more patients across North America.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Staff Product Designer to join our Product Development team, a tight-knit group of Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers. As the first Staff Product Designer at PocketHealth, you will be instrumental in creating intuitive and valuable user experiences that align with our patient-centered approach. With your 10+ years of experience, you’ll advocate for design at a leadership level, and help the Product Development team level up its design game. Key to this, you will collaborate closely with the leadership and product development teams to drive the strategic vision and design of our applications, and set the standard for product design at PocketHealth.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business opportunities and user challenges into exceptional user experiences that empower patients and healthcare professionals by leveraging your interaction and visual design skills.
- Lead the design of user interfaces, considering visual aesthetics, interaction design, and user-centered principles.
- Develop clear and effective information architectures that enhance the overall user experience.
- Incorporate user insights from research into design decisions, ensuring that user needs are central to the design process.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.
- Communicate design concepts and decisions clearly to cross-functional teams and stakeholders through effective presentations.
- Advocate for patient-centered design across the organization, and actively look for opportunities to integrate design thinking more tightly into PocketHealth’s processes.
- Introduce and integrate tools and processes to continually improve the quality and speed of PocketHealth’s Product Design group’s output.
- Provide mentorship to your more junior colleagues in Product Design.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Designer.
- Experience shaping and growing the Product Design practice at prior workplaces, with quantifiable results demonstrating your impact.
- A demonstrated ability to lead through influence, not authority.
- Experience getting results with internal and external stakeholders in a B2B2C environment.
- A portfolio of work (professional and/or personal) on web applications and mobile applications which demonstrates your thought process getting from the problem space to the final design.
- Expert-level proficiency in modern design software such as Figma, Sketch, or equivalent tools (we’re currently using Figma).
- Expert-level ability to leverage user research, usability testing, and data-driven design, and communicate about it to internal stakeholders.
- Expert-level experience in information architecture and organizing complex data into intuitive user experiences.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills to articulate design concepts and decisions effectively and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with web and accessibility standards
- Prior experience working in a startup environment, demonstrating adaptability, a proactive mindset, and design leadership that led to quantifiable results
- NOTE: Only applications accompanied by a design portfolio will be considered.
