About Periodic Labs
We are an AI + physical sciences lab building state of the art models to make novel scientific discoveries. We are well funded and growing rapidly. Team members are owners who identify and solve problems without boundaries or bureaucracy. We eagerly learn new tools and new science to push forward our mission.
About the Role
Join a world-class team of scientists and engineers pushing the boundaries of materials research in a groundbreaking lab where AI and automation unlock discoveries at unprecedented speed and scale.
The Periodic Labs team is developing AI that can both simulate science as well as verify its predictions to train on the full scientific method. As part of this mission, the team is building a high throughput experimental materials science lab. For this facility, we are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our autonomous lab/office HQ’s physical infrastructure. This role spans building operations, IT coordination, environmental health and safety, and security systems — ensuring seamless integration of lab and office environments that enable robust and reliable training workflows.
Responsibilities
Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, and access control.
Implement and manage Life Safety Systems (fire detection, suppression, emergency protocols).
Maintain and evolve IT infrastructure, coordinating with internal/external vendors.
Serve as point of contact for building compliance and inspections (EHS, OSHA, local codes).
Coordinate space planning, renovations, and both office and lab layout modifications.
Manage vendor relationships and service contracts for facilities operations.
Own office and lab security policies and execution.
Hire and train facilities associates to maintain implemented systems
Qualifications
5+ years experience in facilities or operations management for state-of-the-art research labs, especially related to solid-state chemistry or thin film processing.
Strong understanding of building mechanical/electrical systems, building management systems, and IT infrastructure.
Recognized contribution to shaping relevant industry best practices or standards, e.g P.E certification, IFMA, BOC, LEED AP, ASHRAE technical committee member
Familiarity with and/or contributions to NFPA 45, NFPA 70E, and/or NFPA 101
Fluency in smart building protocol standards (BACnet, Modbus, etc.)
