About Emerald

We’re at a pivotal moment in AI and energy: compute demand is surging, but power constraints threaten to stall innovation. Emerald AI operates at the nexus of AI and energy, pioneering solutions that let AI factories scale without overwhelming the grid. By making data centers flexible through the Emerald Conductor software platform, we can unlock immense AI growth with limited capital costs, all while stabilizing the grid & enabling more renewables.

Our team of AI, cloud, software, and energy experts is on a mission to unlock AI’s potential sustainably, backed by premier investors and industry leaders like Radical Ventures and NVIDIA. Read more about our team, story, and backers at https://www.emeraldai.co/.

About the Role

We are seeking a Product Manager to be the glue that binds our engineering and strategy/BD teams, guiding the development of our product suite from 0 to 1. On one hand, you will work with the strategy/BD team on workstreams like market segmentation, ideal customer profile development and go to market strategy. On the other hand, you will co-create with the engineering team to define the roadmap, articulate new product requirements, prioritize development work, and evolve our architecture so it delivers maximum value for cloud service providers and data center owners. Your role is to ensure that every engineering sprint, epic, and story is informed by customer insights and market signals, resulting in a suite of products that solves high-value problems and scales across segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-Develop the Roadmap: Envision the first generation product suite and define the path that gets us there, ensuring development efforts are aligned with customer pain points and market opportunities.

  • Drive Product Discovery: Lead conversations with data center operators, cloud architects, and enterprise IT teams to uncover unmet needs, bring these insights back to engineering, and translate them into actionable feature requirements.

  • Guide Capability Development: Work side-by-side with engineers to design, test, and refine new modules—ranging from grid interactions to workload orchestration features—that push the boundaries of what the platform can deliver.

  • Iterate Based on Feedback: Structure pilots and demos that generate real-world learnings, feeding back into the development cycle to continuously refine both product features and the overall architecture.

  • Define Modular Architecture: Collaborate with engineering on how best to deliver a platform of extensible modules that can evolve over time, supporting different deployment models and needs.

  • Align Development & GTM: Ensure engineering and commercial teams stay synchronized, so the features we build have clear market value and the market is ready for what we build.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in B2B infrastructure software

  • 10+ years of total experience, ideally with significant startup or early-stage experience.

  • Experience developing software products with large complex customers (e.g., Google, AWS, Microsoft), products/solutions involving multiple stakeholders and significant post-sales technical integration

  • Experience working with engineering teams on deeply technical products and aligning them with market demands.

  • Work experience in one or more of the following: data centers, cloud service and high performance computing, AI/ML.

  • Proven ability to modularize complex technical systems into clear offerings with differentiated value.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to rapidly bridge the gap between technical detail and customer value.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with passion for building at the intersection of AI, energy, software, and sustainability.

What We Offer

  • A chance to join a team of industry leaders and experts working at the nexus of two pivotal industries in a collaborative and collegial environment.

  • Building from zero to one: help the team build from the ground up. In addition to this role, you have the opportunity to contribute to strategy development, GTM planning, org design, and customer and investor interfacing.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including insurance for medical, dental, and vision, in addition to 401(k) matching.

  • Location flexibility between our three hubs in D.C., Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area with 1 WFH day/week.
