Crusoe's mission is to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. We’re crafting the engine that powers a world where people can create ambitiously with AI — without sacrificing scale, speed, or sustainability.
Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that’s setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Development Engineer to act as a technical bridge between Customers and Crusoe’s Real Estate, Business Development, and Mechanical Design teams for electrical design. This role focuses on the early conceptual design phase of Crusoe’s data center campus projects. You will support Crusoe’s leadership team and senior staff during early stage development by creating concepts for power distribution systems that are safe, reliable, and constructible at a fast pace. The role will also flex into other projects that are at a more mature design phase.
This position requires an electrical professional with a mix of electrical construction and design methodologies, problem solving that at times will push norms, and a strong background in fast paced design.
The role is in office and must be located in San Francisco. Travel will vary, but is anticipated to be 10%.
What You'll Be Working On:
Support early-stage conceptual electrical design efforts, establishing the initial power distribution architecture for new campuses and site acquisitions. This will require a working knowledge of CAD or similar to create sketches.
Develop and maintain standardized electrical design template blocks
Develop specialized power distribution layouts tailored for AI infrastructure as it advances and grows in power density. This will require partnering with Crusoe’s R&D team.
Act as a technical subject matter expert during customer meetings, translating complex requirements into actionable design strategies.
Pivot dynamically to support the broader design engineering group on fast-track projects, value engineering exercises, or unexpected scope changes.
Conduct initial site due diligence, evaluating utility design (provided by Crusoe’s Power team), power constraints, and high-level infrastructure readiness for prospective builds.
Maintain a working knowledge of various Basis of Design requirements from customers
Research and test new, cutting-edge electrical technologies to incorporate into future design iterations
What You'll Bring to the Team:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in data center electrical engineering, spanning design, operations, or technical pre-sales.
High adaptability and the ability to manage ambiguity, smoothly shifting focus between high-level customer discussions and granular engineering templating.
Deep understanding of how AI compute loads impact power distribution, from the utility transformer down to the server rack.
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate highly technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills to conduct rapid feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
Bonus Points
Previous experience in a sales-engineering, customer-facing, or technical product management role - high comfort working with and presenting to executives
Deep knowledge of hyperscaler data center electrical requirements.
Professional certifications for mission critical design or a professional engineering license
